YRP are looking for an enthusiastic and committed volunteer to lead on delivering one of YRP’s biggest annual events- Railweek! Railweek is a dedicated week of activity which aims to address the skills shortage in rail-related roles and inspire a generation of young people to consider rail careers through a series of events, visits and talks across the country. This is an amazing role that allows you to lead on delivering a major industry event, create a network of high level contacts around the industry and be part of the YRP executive committee.
he role will initially be getting ready for Rail Week 2019 (Planned for October 2019) , including regular comms, website updates, coming up with the theme and any other additional improvements you’ll like to make pre Rail Week.
On the lead up and during Rail Week, there’ll be a lot of communication and responding to queries from the industry or the public, coordinating the photographer and volunteers where necessary.
Post Rail Week, more communications and wrap up with stats, feedback and photos/videos.
As Railweek has been running for 3 years already, most of the back office stuff is set up so effort required is primarily comms and marketing with some project management. You will also be representing YRP at some industry skills & promotion working groups, which meet roughly every 2 months.
Time commitment- a couple of hours a week (on average) and then up to 4 weeks before Rail Week this would ramp up to about an hour or two a day. Support will be provided by other YRP committee members where required, and a formal handover with the previous Railweek manager will be arranged.
