Collaborators Description

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) was established in 2006 as a result of the merger between the Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Incorporated Engineers. The IET is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The IET provides a global knowledge network to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote the positive role of science, engineering and technology in the world. The IET is committed to encouraging students toward studying science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects and considering engineering and technology based courses and careers. The IET has a transport sector and one of the key areas represented is the Railway network. The Railway network has a Young Professionals section, they represent a lively, increasing influential and rapidly growing section of the IET.It is these young professionals who will lead and shape the future of engineering across the world. All engineering and IT students, graduates and those who are already working in their chosen field are encouraged to join the Railway network. The IET supports the YRP as a way of encouraging better networking and better relationships across all areas of the railway industry among young people starting out in their chosen careers, which will hopefully lead to many young people being able to remain in the Railway industry bringing new ideas, enthusiasm and an improved profile to the industry.
