into rail Stories

What better way to inspire young people to an exciting and promising career in rail than to hear first hand experience from young people who are working in rail today!

Each and everyone of our ambassadors have a unique story about their journey in rail. From new entrants, such as apprentices and graduates, to project leads and managers (who says you have to be old to be a manager!). Our ambassadors come from across the industry, engineering, general sciences, architecture and design, operations & services, finance, legal, retail & property, and so on.

into rail History

Since Autumn 2014, YRP led and delivered the Joint University Presentations Programme to many universities throughout the country on behalf of the industry and various rail institutions. The initiative aims to address the current skills gap in the UK by linking university students directly to the professionals and organisations within the rail industry and has already reached hundreds of university students and also enabled several undergraduate industry placements. In 2016, the university engagement programme was re-launched and re-branded into rail.

The NEW career engagement presentation

into rail Stories aims to expand its reach to more young people in and outside of universities and showcase more routes into rail careers. From spring 2018, we will be piloting our new presentation in universities and colleges in London. if you would like to be part of this pilot, please contact the team at

Not in London? We have ambassadors available in many regions across the country. Please get in touch to see if we can bring the into rail Stories pilot to your education institution.

YRP into rail re-brand was sponsored by WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, The National Skills Academy Rail (NSAR) and Institution of Railway Operators (IRO).
