It’s been a fantastic Railweek in the West Midlands.
On Monday we organised a tour of Birmingham New Street for students at the Wmg Academy for Young Engineers, where the students were introduced to the operational aspects involved in managing one of Europe’s busiest train stations.
On Wednesday we had Malcolm Holmes, Executive Director at the West Midlands Rail Executive to talk to our new members about his career journey and plans for the future of transportation in the West Midlands before we engaged in a fun interactive quiz and networking.
Finally last night we were at the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA) where Rose Rees gave us an overview of the MMA consortium. She also gave an introduction to the work they do to promote opportunities to young people within the region. Then Grace Hayward, Hamish Falconer and Maria Ion presented the Westside Metro Extension project.
