YRP’s working trip to the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highlands Railway

This past weekend 17 members of YRP attended a working trip to the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway, in order to support the heritage railway with a number of tasks, as well as gain some practical railway infrastructure maintenance experience.

Attendees helped the railway by completing a number of jobs:

  • Laying the foundations for new fencing along the railway,
  • Replacing damaged rails,
  • Shovelling ballast to create the base for a siding extension.

As a reward for their hard work, those that attended had the opportunity to drive one of the railway’s steam locomotives!

YRP would like to thank the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway for hosting us on what was a really enjoyable weekend.
