Project Griffin is the national counter-terrorism awareness initiative for business, produced by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), to protect our cities, communities and railway from the threat of terrorism. The aims of Project Griffin are to help understand the threats to the UK, to guide individuals on what to do if they find themselves involved in a terrorist incident or event that leads up to a planned attack, and to enable people to recognise and report suspicious activity. British Transport Police (BTP) holds briefing events to increase the railway’s awareness of how best to reduce and respond to the most likely types of terrorist activities. This presentation will explore the current threat, hostile reconnaissance and methods of attack, including the ‘Stay Safe’ guidance in relation to a Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA) on our network.

Speaker: Natalie Green, Counter Terrorism Security Advisor (CTSA), British Transport Police.

Having graduated from City University with a degree in Sociology and Criminology in 2013, Natalie joined the British Transport Police as a Crime Reduction Advisor (CRA). Gaining knowledge and experience within this department, Natalie was then promoted to Specialist Operations in 2015 as a Counter Terrorism Awareness Advisor (CTAA) and was responsible for the delivery of Project Griffin and Project ARGUS. Natalie has recently been promoted to Counter Terrorism Security Advisor (CTSA) and has started her two year licentiateship in Counter Terrorism Security Management.
