Railway Children is organising Rail Rugby 2017 . The Premiership rugby team Wasps will be supporting this touch rugby tournament with all the might you’d expect from one of the UK’s leading elite teams.

The five-time English champions and twice-European champions are supporting our vital work by helping us hold this unique tournament for the rail industry.

Wasps players, coaches and referees will be on hand throughout the day – helping players to up their game and learn from the best.

The competition

  • 20 teams from organisations across the rail industry will be drawn into 4 groups.
  • Each team should have ten players (six playing with rolling subs).
  • Matches will be ten minutes each way.

Touch rugby is a non-contact game and players don’t need to have previous experience.

The day

All teams will take part in an hour’s master class, led by some of the most famous Wasps names in the history of rugby. Play takes place under the watchful eye of Wasps referees. When teams aren’t on the pitch, players can test their rugby prowess in the interactive skills zone.

There will be a Q&A session with Wasps players over lunch – giving teams a chance to sharpen up their strategy and techniques, ready for the fierce competition of the finals in the afternoon.

At the end of the afternoon the champion of Rail Rugby 2017 will be crowned – and the post match celebrations can begin, led by a rugby celebrity and attended by Wasps players. It’s open to players and non-players – and offers a great opportunity for teams to network. There will be a hog roast, a bar and a live ban
