We face an unprecedented pace of change as we move towards a post digital era - nearly all business have already completed or are undergoing some degree of digital transformation. We move at pace industrial revolution 4.0 where the connected systems will drive transformation across networks, transport and energy infrastructure systems delivering greener, carbon neutral infrastructure.
Multimodal transport systems that integrate many different and and new modes of transport with individuals, vehicles, data and journeys. Connected infrastructure must deliver resiliency, reliability and capacity. There are a number of emerging technologies that will drive the next waves of innovation and, should and how can we embrace these technologies in order to differentiate our organisations and to drive increased value in a competitive landscape.
There will be insights to these new technologies, potential applications, the challenges, opportunities, and risks. Some of the technologies that we must consider include distributed ledger technology (DLT) and applications for integrated transport, artificial(assisted) intelligence (AI) that will automated decision making , extended reality (XR) for new ways of working, and the implications of quantum computing on securing transport infrastructure and ultimately how these technologies can/will be a catalyst for change. I will touch on
the implication of the NIS Directive and GDPR on connected infrastructure solutions as well as post Brexit considerations for securing national infrastructure.
