Rail Week, established in 2016, is a dedicated week of activity which aims to address the skills shortage in rail-related roles and inspire a generation of young people through a series of events, visits and talks. The events for people at schools, colleges and universities aim to encourage them to consider careers in this great industry. Rail Week also includes a widespread schools outreach programme, facilitating ambassadors to get into the classroom and deliver inspirational activities designed for Rail Week.
The Rail Week initiative has been the brainchild of the professional networking association
Young Rail Professionals (YRP), supported by many organisations across the rail industry pledging to host events and reach out to schools, colleges and parents in their area.
For many in rail, being out and about is central to our roles - whether at depots, factories, stations or working on tracks and trains.
Covid-19 has restricted some of this, but we are determined not to let it restrict the reach of Rai

This year we're encouraging contributors & collaborators to bring the railway to kitchens and living rooms across the UK by placing fresh emphasis on technology - virtual depot tours, webinars, downloadable activities, engineering insights, Q&As, games, educational videos...
Think virtual. Think online. Think live or pre-recorded. Think outside the box.
