With Network Rail’s Decarbonisation policy recently being published and recommending large waves of electrification now seems like a good time to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the Great Western Electrification Programme.  Upon completion of Severn Tunnel Electrification, fully electric trains can now run between the capitals of England and Wales bringing Brunel’s railway into the 21^st century. 

For this webinar, YRP Western region welcome Matt Jackson (Senior Programme Manager) and Dr David Hewings (Head of Engineering and Asset Management, Electrification & Plant) from Network Rail . Matt and David will take us through some of the challenges faced during the completion of this long desired project and how they overcame them; not just with Severn Tunnel but across the Western Route.
