From decarbonisation to the protection of eco-systems, the rail industry is uniquely placed to provide solutions to many challenges facing our world. Rail transport is often touted as the low carbon alternative to aviation or road transport, however, there is no doubt that the construction or modification of a railway has a significant impact– both on the landscape it crosses and in the volume of materials it requires to be constructed.

We have invited 4 speakers from different backgrounds to share with us their perspectives on sustainability and the environment in the rail industry, as it currently stands and where they see the industry going in the future. They will touch on the benefits of early involvement from Environmental Consultants, the detail involved in assessing rail schemes and the importance of having an environmental and sustainability strategy to take companies into the 21st century and beyond.

  • Fiona Wilson – Principal Environmental Consultant, Atkins
  • Ryan Maidment – Environmental Consultant, Arup
  • Kiera Bennett – Environmental Advisor, HS2 Ltd
  • Dr Rossa Donovan – Head of Environment and Sustainability, Network Rail

Join us on Tuesday 24th November for what promises to be a great event.
