Join the West Midlands YRP Region at WSP, The Mailbox, as we welcome Richard Briggs from Mott MacDonald, who will be delivering a talk on Light Rail Solutions!

Richard is a chartered civil engineer and fellow of the Permanent Way Institution who specialises in the design, construction and operation of urban mass rapid transit projects. He is responsible for leading Mott MacDonald’s Light Rapid Transit activities in the Midlands & Wales and provides advice on large multi-disciplinary rapid transit projects for Public Sector clients including Transport for West Midlands, Transport for Wales and other local authorities.

For over 20 years he has been involved in the expansion of the West Midland Metro tramway and is currently involved in the UK’s largest roll out of Tram-Train in the Cardiff Capital Region, a new solution making best value use of existing heavy rail assets with the ability to penetrate into public spaces. Through his work in this rail sector Richard has been invited by industry body UK Tram to its ‘Centre of Excellence’ group providing expert guidance and assistance to promotors in all matters of Light Rail design, construction and operation both on non-mainline and mainline infrastructure.

He will share some of his experience by providing an overview of different mass rapid transit modes highlighting the significant environmental benefits that investing in light rail brings to our city regions including here in the West Midlands

Snacks and refreshments will be provided at the event.
