The YRP Heritage Engagement Initiative are pleased to announce a volunteering visit to the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway in Oxfordshire. Located just 1 hour from Central London, the Cholsey and Wallingford railway is a rural branch line opened in 1866. Since 1981 the line has been in the hands of the Cholsey and Wallingford Preservation Society who run timetabled heritage train journeys and special events throughout the year. YRP will be helping to recover redundant signalling assets from the lineside and restore the platform at Wallingford Station. This experience will allow volunteers to get some hands-on understanding of heritage signalling equipment and learn basic railway engineering principles through the renewal of Wallingford Platform. Volunteers including senior individuals across the rail industry will be on-hand to offer guidance and provide an informal networking opportunity. Cost
A £1 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on this visit.
