YRP East Midlands are proud to offer the opportunity to attend a tour of East Midlands Railway’s Derby Etches Park Depot.

The tour will comprise of a presentation about the North Shed facility, covering depot operations and how the team there manage and maintain the Class 222 Meridian fleet as well as a look to the future as the depot prepares for the introduction of the new Class 810s, followed by a tour of the shop floor. Afterwards, attendees will get a tour of the South Shed facility with a chance to see the wheel lathe, fueling roads and operations cabin followed by a tour of the South Shed itself. Altogether, the tours and presentation should be finished by 16:30.

We will meet at Derby Railway Station on the platform 7 / Pride Park / Roundhouse side by 11:30 and walk to Etches Park depot ready for a 12:00 pm start. If you are arriving by car please note that there is no parking available at the depot, but public parking will be available at the station car park. We will be leaving for Etches Park by 11:35 at the latest to ensure we are there in good time. As this is a working depot, please ensure you bring the following:

• Safety Boots
• Hi Vis vest
• Safety Glasses
• Bump Cap

It is important to ensure you have the necessary PPE with you as a very limited supply of spare safety glasses/bump caps can be provided. Please contact Laurence (laurence.desavigny-bower@atkinsglobal.com ) as soon as possible if you would like to attend but don’t have all of the PPE required. Unfortunately if you don’t have the necessary PPE on the day, you will not be able to participate in either the tours or the presentation.

All participants will need to complete a depot induction before attending the tour which will be sent out to all attendees prior to the tour date. Due to size constraints within the depot, this event will be limited to only 9 participants and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. In case of cancellations there will be a waiting list and members will be alerted to availability at the earliest opportunity.

Registering Attendance: A £2 donation to YRP will be required to ensure attendance.

Accessibility: Unfortunately due to the nature of working depots there is limited accessibility to people of reduced mobility.
