The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway School of Signalling has been training signallers in the art of Absolute Block signalling since 1912, and they have kindly agreed to let YRP members experience what it is like to operate a service on this special and historic layout.

We will be taken through a demonstration of block signalling, how and why it was developed and operated. Then, with a basic understanding of how it works, there will be an opportunity to operate the layout under supervision.

The group will meet at York station at 10:30, before the demonstration starts at 11:00.

There will time to watch and operate the layout with a break for lunch in between.

Following the event, the group will head into the centre of York for a social which is free to join.
