Come and join the YRP East Midlands committee on a tour of the Great Central Railway, including a trip along the line, guided tours of the loco shed, carriage and wagon sheds, yards, garden railway and stations! We will meet between 9:30am and 9:45am at the main entrance of Loughborough Central Station (LE11 1RW). We will start the day with a guided tour of the loco shed at the north end of the line. After this we will board a train and travel to Rothley for a guided tour of the station, carriage and wagon works and the garden railway. We will then catch the train again and enjoy lunch in the griddle car on board the train. After lunch we will travel to Quorn and Woodhouse, where we will view the station, yard and the Quorn Wagon and Wagon restoration area. We then return to Loughborough Central for a tour of the station and the day ends at around 4:45pm. Loughborough Central is a 20 minute walk from Loughborough's Network Rail Railway Station. Alternatively, on-street parking is available on Great Central Road for those arriving by car. Please ensure you are wearing flat closed-toed shoes as we will be walking on uneven ground and areas normally out of access to the general public. Spaces are limited to only 10 places and will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so book now to avoid disappointment! In the event that this event sells out a waiting list will be in operation. Tickets for this YRP event includes a subsidised ticket to travel on the GCR as well as lunch on the train. Tickets for this event can be purchased through this link: https://buytickets.at/youngrailprofessionals1/1225681 If you have any dietary requirements or any other queries then please contact Laurence De Savigny-Bower (laurence.desavigny-bower@youngrailpro.com). If you have any accessibility needs please contact Laurence De Savigny-Bower (laurence.desavigny-bower@youngrailpro.com) in advance of the day.
