Come along and join YRP and Building Equality, along with several other rail companies for Birmingham PRIDE 2024. Birmingham is at the centre of the rail industry in which many train companies attend this event to support people from LGBT backgrounds. As part of the day, there will be opportunities to join the parade within block J. For this event, we have SIX opportunities for you to win a free ticket to attend the Street Festival! Breakfast We will start the day with Building Equality in which they are hosting the Breakfast Social at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors from 10am until 1pm. At part of the breakfast, there will be a ‘Design a Hard Hat’ competition in which the winning hat receives a free street festival ticket! Please sign up separately for the breakfast https://www.buildingequalityuk.com/upcoming-events Street Carnival Parade We will then head over to Centenary Square where the carnival parade will start as we will then walk / take part along the route whilst watching the carnival towards the LGBTIQ Village. Don’t forget to bring your flags, glitter and rainbows. Some of those taking part in the carnival are from a variety of rail companies so don’t forget to look out for some of your friends whilst celebrating! Taking part in the carnival For those of you who want to take part in the parade with Building Equality (Block J), please let Adam or John know as there some places available. For everyone else, we will walk along the carnival route from Centenary Square through to the Street Festival taking plenty of photos! Afterwards Once at the LGBTIQ Village, we will attend the Birmingham Pride Street Festival in which there are a variety of LGBT related activities and music for us to enjoy. We’re offering five YRP members the opportunity to win a free ticket. All you need to do is sign up before 6pm on Thursday 23rd May for a chance to win! Accessibility and Travel 
The route is 1.5 miles long taking around 45 minutes – 1 hour. The route will start at Centenary Square > along New Street > High Street > Carrs Lane > St Martins Queensway > Hurst Street and will end near the entrance to the LGBTIQ Village Street Party. Most of the route is accessible. Noise levels will be a bit louder than usual so bring sensory tools if this affects you. Feel free to bring a portable seat as benches are very limited. RNIB Key Fobs may help if you need assistance with getting around on Birmingham’s public transport. Please speak to Adam or any of the YRP committee members if you need any assistance on the day.
Travel Bus – Any bus to Birmingham City Centre Midland Metro – Grand Centre / Town Hall Train – Birmingham New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill Note – Services are likely to be busy before 12:00 and after 15:00. Free Tickets Terms and Conditions The free ticket competition are for YRP and members only, sign up for free membership if your not already a member! There are five tickets to win just for signing up and one ticket for the design a hat competition in which the winner will be decided by Building Equality. One signup ticket per winner. No purchase necessary. No cash or credit alternative. Tickets will be emailed/whatsapped when you arrive at the event. Entries close at 6pm on Thursday 23rd with the ballot done as soon as entries close. Those who are unsuccessful may still buy tickets before or on the day. Good Luck!
