Come and join the YRP East Midlands committee on a volunteering day at the Great Central Railway, where we will be helping the team strip BR Mk1 carriage No. 4662 as part of their project restoring the coach back into public use. We will meet at Loughborough Central station between 09:30 and 09:45 before riding on one of the steam-hauled service trains down to Rothley where we will be helping the team at the Carriage and Wagon works for the day. Lunch will be available to purchase at Ellis’ Tearooms next to the works and we will return to Loughborough Central station by 17:00. A minimum of safety boots and a hi vis vest is required for this trip, but it is advised to wear clothes you do not mind getting filthy/dusty as our work will involve sanding surfaces and stripping paint. Masks, gloves and goggles will be provided by the railway. This is a ticketed event and places are limited to only 9 places. Tickets cost £3 and are available to purchase from the link below. A return trip on the GCR trains from Loughborough Central to Rothley and a hot drink at Rothley station café, are included in the ticket price. Link to tickets: https://buytickets.at/youngrailprofessionals1/1316818 Loughborough Central is a 20 minute walk from Loughborough's mainline station.
