HS2 has kindly agreed to facilitate site visits to the HS2 Chiltern Tunnel South Portal and Colne Valley Viaduct sites, where you can see the construction of Britain’s longest railway tunnel and longest continuous viaduct.

Visit details:

This visits will take place on Thursday 12th September and Thursday 19th September between 2pm and 3:30pm.

It will consist of a presentation followed by a site tour via minibus to relative points of safety where viewing platforms have been established outside of the working area. 

No PPE is required as you will remain in the site office, minibus or at points of safety where designated viewing areas have been established.

Attendance:

Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the visit if travelling by car/taxi, considering your travel time from your location. If travelling by public transport, James Shanley will liaise with HS2 on pick up arrangements from Rickmansworth or Denham Stations respectively. Note agreed meet up times for the visit will be earlier to facilitate the transfer from the stations to the construction site.

There are a maximum of 26 spaces available, 13 on each visit, these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you wish to attend but the visit is already full, please join the waitlist, any spaces that become vacant again closer to the time will be allocated to those on the waitlist.

A small charge of £2 will be applied to the visit, paid upon signing up.

If closer to the time you are unable to attend please inform James Shanley, Louis Moore or Con Sheffield as soon as you know so that your place can be reallocated on what we anticipate will be a heavily subscribed event.

If arriving by car/taxi: The site is located in Denham, just inside the M25 on the outskirts of London. The site address is: Align Compound, South Portal, Chalfont Lane, WD3 9XN

If arriving by public transport: It is recommended to use either Denham Station on the Chiltern Mainline or Rickmansworth station on the Metropolitan Line. Onward transport from either station may be arranged – James Shanley is liaising with HS2 on this
