Paul Chase is the head of the Geospatial & Strategic Transport Analysis Unit (G-STAT) at Transport for Wales, leading a team that aims to improve the quality, consistency and cost-effectiveness of the evidence base underpinning transport appraisal, decision-making, investment, and evaluation in Wales. Over the last few years Paul has been monitoring the effects of the new 20mph default speed limit on restricted roads in Wales. In this session, Paul will talk through the reasons behind the Welsh Governments decision to change the default speed limit, the process followed to implement the new limit and the monitoring framework. The majority of the session will focus on what data is being collected to monitor the effects, how it is being collected and the findings so far.
