Join Freightliner for a guided tour and presentation of their Birmingham terminal! The terminal provides a wide range of rail freight and road haulage facilities so much so that it is an ‘inland port’ – providing for the movement and transit of all the items we use in our daily lives! The terminal is, therefore, one of the most critical and interesting parts of the rail and transportation industry.

The massive 4580 TEU capacity facility covers 35.3 acres in the heart of Birmingham’s city centre. The site is a rail road terminal with daily rail movements to and from Felixstowe, Southampton and London Gateway. The site includes two huge gantry cranes alongside rail sidings and a wide range of rail and mobile lifting equipment. In addition, the site includes an advanced tracking and distribution system that uses state of the art technology, including optical recognition cameras, to weigh and track every container movement in and out of the facility.

The advanced facilities will be of great interest to anyone working in the rail industry!

Please note, Freightliner reserves the right to refuse entry to any persons for commercial, health and safety or any other reason.

Please note, attendees should bring their own PPE (safety boots, high-visibility overall, hard hat, goggles, and gloves). Freightliner may be able to provide a limited amount of PPE to attendees on the day but this will be on a first come, first serve basis and there may not be sufficient PPE for everyone. Those without PPE will not be able to participate in the Terminal tour.
