YRP Yorkshire & North East region are hosting Rail Week's heritage event at the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway School of Signalling. The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway School of Signalling has been training signallers in the art of Absolute Block signalling since 1912, and they have kindly agreed to let us experience what it is like to operate a service on this layout. We will be taken through a demonstration of block signalling, how and why it was developed and operated, and then once we understand the basics, there will be the opportunity to operate the layout under supervision (depending on volunteers available on the day). The event will last around 5 hours. Afterwards, we will head into York for a social event so feel free to come along! Meeting point We will meet at York Station around 1030 and then walk over to the railway museum. There are limited spaces available so make sure to register here if you would like to attend: Buy tickets – Y&NE Rail Week - Saturday Heritage event at The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway School of Signalling – National Railway Museum
