Railweek (Wales) - Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway Volunteering Day

Welcome to the first YRP Wales hosted Heritage Railway volunteering day. This exclusive event is being held at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway, 1000ft above sea level and just below the infamous ‘Big Pit’. It is a standard gauge railway, and with its February half term running season beginning just a week later your work will be of great use to the railway!

Volunteers will likely be lifting & packing joints or changing sleepers, possibly oiling fishplates etc. You will have to bring lunch & your own PPE (safety boots, hi-vis clothing & bring a hat just in case!)

This day will start at 0830 at Newport Station, in which a minibus will pick us up at 0845 and drop us off at the Site from 0915 aiming for a 0930 start for inducting and training. Ending the day on the bus back at 1600 to get to Newport soon after (as traffic allows!)

Railweek (Cymru) - Diwrnod Gwirfoddoli Rheilffordd Pont-y-pŵl a Blaenafon

Croeso i ddiwrnod gwirfoddoli cyntaf Gweithwyr Proffesiynol Ifanc Rheilffyrdd Cymru, wedi’i gynnal gan Heritage Railway. Caiff y digwyddiad unigryw hwn ei gynnal ar Reilffordd Pont-y-pŵl a Blaenafon, 1000 troedfedd uwchben lefel y môr ac ychydig islaw'r 'Pwll Mawr' enwog. Mae'n rheilffordd lled safonol, ac wrth i’r cyfnod agor dros hanner tymor mis Chwefror ddechrau dim ond wythnos yn ddiweddarach, bydd eich gwaith o ddefnydd mawr i'r rheilffordd!

Mae'n debygol y bydd gwirfoddolwyr yn codi a phacio cymalau neu'n newid trawstiau, ac o bosibl yn iro’r haenellau uno neu’r ‘fishplates’ hefyd. Bydd yn rhaid i chi ddod â'ch cinio a'ch dillad diogelu eich hun (esgidiau diogelwch, dillad gwelededd uchel, a dewch â het rhag ofn!)

Bydd y diwrnod hwn yn dechrau am 0830 yng Ngorsaf Casnewydd, lle bydd bws mini yn ein codi ni am 0845 ac yn ein gollwng ar y safle o 0915 gan anelu at ddechrau am 0930 ar gyfer cyfarfod ymsefydlu a hyfforddiant. Bydd y diwrnod yn gorffen gyda’r daith fws yn ôl am 1600, a fydd yn cyrraedd Casnewydd yn fuan wedi hynny (yn dibynnu ar y traffig!)

Cyfarfod Cychwynnol @ 0830                                       Lleoliad y Safle @ 0930 - 1600
