Update: Registration is now closed. Young Rail Professionals West Midlands Region is forming a group of volunteers to support the IMechE Railway Challenge at Stapleford Miniature Railway. Members from wider YRP community are more than welcomed to join us! The Challenge is upgrading the track to increase the competition capacity from the current limit of 14 up to 30, and we would like our members from YRP to support the project. By volunteering, you will gain hands-on experience assembling tracks, installing a new turntable, electrics, and more. Don't worry if you don't have any prior experience; all materials and tools will be provided, along with guidance. Plus, you'll have the chance to meet other like-minded people from the region and beyond. Stapleford Miniature Railway is near Melton Mowbray (postcode LE14 2SF). The organiser will provide all tools and PPE needed, but if you could bring safety boots, that would be great. Timing is flexible as some people have to travel quite a long way, but generally, we aim to start at 09:00 each day. Tea and coffee are available, but we ask volunteers to bring their own lunch if possible, as there isn’t much nearby. Volunteers are allowed to camp for free at the site, and if requested in advance, there is an old caravan available for free accommodation. Date: Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd June 2025. You can indicate your availability after signing up if you can only volunteer on certain days. Time: Start at 9:00 am each day, but flexible if you are travelling Register below to be contacted for further information.
