YRP West Midlands are delighted to welcome new graduates/apprentices/starters in the Rail sector! Our Welcome to Rail event seeks to provide a holistic introduction to the railway sector to new starters as well as our existing members. Our event speakers from the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE), University of Birmingham, will provide a holistic overview of the railway system and cover recent updates on innovation in the sector.

1.     17:30 to 17:40 - Introduction to the YRP Speaker: Nikhil Pillai, YRP West Midlands Chair & PhD Student, BCRRE, University of Birmingham

2.     17:40 – 18:05 - Introduction to the Railways and Systems thinking. Speaker: Dr. Krishnan Venkateswaran, Technical Officer at BCRRE, University of Birmingham

3.     18:05 – 18:30 - Case studies on innovation in Railways across the world. Speaker: Dr. Marcelo Blumenfeld, Industrial fellow at BCRRE, University of Birmingham
